This course is one of the oldest in Las Vegas. Designed by Bert Stamps, the Las Vegas National Golf Club opened in October 1961. The Las Vegas National Golf Club has had many different names and owners over the years. It started out as the Stardust Country Club when it was first owned by the Stardust Hotel and Casino. In 1969, the course became known as the Sahara-Nevada Country Club. Then in 1994, the course was renamed as the Las Vegas Hilton Country Club when the Las Vegas Hilton and the American Golf Corporation struck a deal together. Finally, in 1998, the course became known as what it is today, the Las Vegas National Golf Club. Las Vegas car rental customers should visit just to see all the changes the course has endured. You may think that all of these name changes would weaken the number of people that play the course, but it has only gotten better.
Many professional golfers have played on this course including Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus, Tiger Woods and Lee Trevino. The Las Vegas National Golf Club has held many professional events, most namely the PGA Tournament of Champions, the Michelin Championship and the LPGA Championship. The LPGA Championship was the first event to be held at this course from 1961-1966. Since then it has hosted many other tournaments and events, but most importantly, the PGA Tournament of Champions. Las Vegas National Golf Club has seen its share of celebrities and professional athletes over the years. It has been the host to members of the NFL, NBA, NASCAR and PBR. "Casino", the 1995 movie with Robert De Niro and Sharon Stone, was filmed at this very course. Las Vegas car rental customers, come join in a piece of history at the Las Vegas National.
